33ft Barbary Ketch Cockpit enclosure

This new cockpit enclosure for a 33ft Barbary Ketch, was fabricated in Captain Navy Sauleda acrylic as a replacement for a well-worn original.  The brief was to maintain the classic look while improving functionality and durability.

A small, clear window was added to the aft panel to provide better visibility and natural light into the cockpit area, enhancing comfort without compromising privacy or weather protection.  The enclosure is secured neatly using bungee attachments to ensure a snug fit, with the material set at a tight, even pitch for effective rain water runoff.

Several Lift-the-Dot fittings were also renewed to improve fastening integrity and ease of use.  The final result gives this beautiful wooden ketch a refreshed, smart appearance - both practical and sympathetic to her traditional lines.  The owner was delighted with the transformation, noting how the new enclosure complements the vessel’s timeless character while adding a touch of modern refinement.
